Project Description
This was a design-build renovation of a historic 6,000 sq ft, two-story building. Over its 100-year history, the structure had undergone three additions and had settled seven inches downhill, requiring significant structural intervention.
Structural Realignment and Leveling
To address the settling, we utilized hydraulic jacks and reinforced wood beams to lift the second floor, followed by leveling the lower floor to ensure a stable and even foundation.
Project Highlights
This project exemplifies our expertise in transforming historic buildings, combining structural reinforcement with modern amenities to create sustainable, functional spaces for today’s needs.
Project Description
A structural lifting project in Bucoda, WA, for the Department of Ecology. The home, located in a floodplain, required raising the floor of an addition by 2.5 feet to match the elevation of the main house. Due to the unique conditions of the site, we utilized a combination of hydraulic jacking and manual jack-and-beam methods to safely lift and level the addition.
Jacking and Lifting Process
Our team carefully raised the addition by 2.5 feet using hydraulic jacks for precision lifting, supplemented by manual jack-and-beam methods for additional control and stabilization. This ensured that the addition was perfectly aligned with the main structure and provided the necessary elevation for flood protection.
Project Highlights
This project showcases our ability to meet environmental standards while ensuring structural integrity and safety in flood-prone areas.
Project Description
A design-build renovation of a 900 sq ft single-story structure that was originally sitting on the ground with no foundation. The house had settled unevenly, sloping by 6 inches on one side, and required significant structural improvements.
Manual Jacking and Lifting
Due to the building’s lack of foundation and its age, we utilized a manual jacking process, digging beneath the floor to position jacks directly under the structure. We carefully raised the entire house by 6 inches, using beams to support the lift and restore the building’s level.
Full Remodel and Expansion
Once leveled, we demoed the structure down to the studs and fully upgraded the building’s electrical wiring and plumbing. The project also included insulating all walls to improve energy efficiency. An addition was constructed, expanding the home to 1,160 sq ft and transforming it into an ADA-accessible two-bedroom, one-bathroom residence.
Modernization and Insulation
The renovation involved bringing the entire building up to modern standards by fully insulating the structure and ensuring optimal energy efficiency and comfort.
Project Highlights
This project highlights our expertise in leveling and revitalizing aging structures, transforming them into modern, functional living spaces.
Project Description
A structural leveling and stabilization project on a 1,000 sq ft home in Woodland, WA. This house, over 100 years old, had settled unevenly, with one side sagging by 3 inches. To restore balance and ensure long-term stability, we employed a hydraulic jacking system and reinforced beams to carefully lift and level the home, improving its overall structural integrity.
Structural Realignment and Leveling
Using precise hydraulic jacks, we raised the sagging side of the house, bringing it back to level with the rest of the structure. By adding reinforced beams, we enhanced the home's stability, preventing future settlement and ensuring a secure foundation.
Project Highlights
This project demonstrates our expertise in structural lifting and leveling, providing critical reinforcement to aging homes while maintaining their original character.
